Review by Greiser

Greiser This was my 1st Phish show (!!!!) although I was very familiar with the band by this time and had several bootlegs I had been listening to. I was going to school in Fla. and they were mostly playing shows in the NE at this point, so had little opps to catch them. But I was home for the summer in MD, the Bayou was kinda of a home base in high school, and was extremely excited for this.

Showed up hoping to grab tickets at the door, but it had sold out…. Was so bummed but ran into a friend of mine from growing up who was going to school at UVM and he hooked me up! (RIP Mark Williamson) Got in in the middle of Foam and the place was rocking! And as mentioned it was hot as all hell being the middle of summer in DC and the AC seemed non existent. This was the tour with the Giant County Horns, which added a lot of jazzy flair to these shows. Audience was way into the entire show and it was clear these guys were on the up and up.

After this show I was hooked and saw many more Phish shows mostly on the west coast until 1995-ish Then l I eventually lost interest. Having been spoiled in the early to mid-90’s on shows like this one it was hard to see them in large venues or deal with their later more refined sound. I like the weird stuff! Still I really enjoy revisiting these old shows on phichtrack.com, where you can find a good sound board of this one.

Honestly when I look at the set list and listen to this show, this coulda been the only Phish show I ever saw and I would of been good because this was the real deal and they pretty much played all my favs that I would hope to hear at shows for years to come. So psyched I was able to experience this band at this epic time in their career.

willet43 My first show. Some friends dragged me there -- had no idea who Phish was and I got a ticket at the door. I don't remember a whole lot about this show other than it was high energy and extremely hot as pretty much the whole bar was dancing. For those who remember The Bayou, it was dinky and dank. It was packed this night and a lot of guys had their shirts off trying to cool down. Pretty relaxed back then with the band ordering drinks at the bar.

Review by Rumpofsteelskin

Rumpofsteelskin This was the first time I dosed at a PHISH show. This show really turned me on to the band. The REBA reminded me of a Slipknot jam.

We were all underage and used the lick your hand to transfer the door stamp method. One of my best friends got booted as he got in trying to do just that. Rest of us had the time of our lives! Was very very very hot. Good Audiences abound. If you have the board of this show, please contact me, I have lots to trade.

this was my 3rd PHISH show ever.

thelot The source used on Relisten is incorrectly labeled as a SBD recording. This is in fact another fantastic digital audience recording from this tour.

Things open up with a spunky Chalk Dust. A well played Foam follows. Trey says “Have you seen juniors grades?” during Suzy again. Solid Stash. Flat Fee was such a treat this tour! Spectacular Mike’s Groove to close set 1!

A rippin’ Llama kicks off set 2. Well Reba. Nice work from Trey on the intro to Cavern. Another smokin’ version of Tweezer! Nice transition from DaaM to Gumbo. They seem to like pairing Touch Me up with Gumbo as this was the third time this tour. Atypical opening to a very fun Caravan to start off the encore. Golgi closes out the evening.
